Come run with us! In 2005, the 30-year old Greater Greer Road Race was renamed the Greer Earth Day Run. The race has improved over the years, and 2010 is no exception. Starting this year, the event will be held in the brand new Greer City Park in the heart of downtown Greer, South Carolina. With the beautiful new race venue, we expect this to be the biggest and best edition so far. Bring the whole family and enjoy the 6th Annual Greer Earth Day Run!.

Race Date - April 24, 2010

The Greer Earth Day Run will be held on Sat., April 24, 2010 at Greer City Park.

The Half Marathon starts at 7:30 AM at the intersection of Randall Street and Trade Street (located approx. 1/4 mile from City Park).

The 5K begins at 8:00 AM at the same location as the Half Marathon start.

The Fit’s Cool Kid’s Run will be held in City Park following the 5K.

The Half Marathon is a State Championship Race

The Greer Earth Day Run has been chosen as the site for the 2010 Half Marathon State Championship and is the only site in South Carolina to hold this distinction. Long distance runners from all over the state are expected to compete in this prestigious event. Special awards endorsed by the Road Runners Clubs of America (RRCA) will be presented to the Male and Female winners in the Overall, Masters and Grandmasters categories.

Online registration is available through Strictly Running by clicking on the “race bib” at top right of this page. Mail-in forms are available only by contacting the Race Director. Entry fees are as follows: (Note: GTC Members take a $5 discount)

IMPORTANT NOTE: THERE IS NO PACKET PICK-UP ON RACE DAY. IF IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO PICK UP YOUR PACKET ON FRIDAY APRIL 23, PLEASE CONTACT THE RACE DIRECTOR BEFORE FRIDAY APRIL 23. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION FOR ANY RACE.

0. Finisher Medals presented to all Half Marathon and Kid’s Run finishers. Race Awards presented to male/female overall winners, masters, grandmasters, and age groups in 5-year increments. For your listening enjoyment, 4TH MAN STANDING will perform in the amphitheater after the race. The MC’s for this year’s event will be Phil and Amy Parham from “The Biggest Loser” series, who will both be running their first half marathon race. The event will be held rain or shine. For safety reasons, headphones, pets, and strollers are prohibited in the 5k and Half Marathon.

Volunteer Opportunities

Whether you’re helping out with registration, setting up aid stations, or monitoring the course during the race, volunteering is a great way to meet friends and be part of the team. If you or your group is interested in volunteering, please give us a call or send an e-mail (look under Contacts). We will be holding meetings with volunteers 4-6 weeks before the event, so let us know if you’re interested in participating before then.

Training Runs & Training Plans

The GTC will host several Training Runs for the Half Marathon. The training runs will start at 8 AM at Greer City Hall on March 20, March 27, April 3, and April 17. These sessions are for runners of all ages and abilities, and we will have several groups to fit your pace - so No Runners Left Behind.
